Maths In term one for maths we learnt about fractions and ratios. When I was doing maths with Nicole I started off learning about fractions. Some things I was learning in fractions were 1/2 of 16 is 8, 1/4 of 28 is 7 and 1/5 of 25 I was also learning ratios like 1:3 1 purple seed and 3 green seeds how many purple and green seeds are in 7 packets. I found the workshops fun because me and my group did lots of fun things to help us learn. Like when we were learning ratios we made smothies using ratios. I also learnt lots of new things. Here is a picture of some of our learning.

Projects

Projects For projects last term I was learning about fair trade I learnt lots of new things about fair trade. When I first started fair trade I had to start off with some problems about fair trade and pick one to work on  and what I wanted to work on was that super markets are not selling enough fair trade products so I had to do some research. First I researched the guarantees of fair trade and the rest of my group did some researched on other things and then we made a doc for all of us to put our research in. unfortunately me and my group did not get to finish our project but we still made some progress. If you don't know what fair trade is I will tell you. Fair trade is is a company that supports the pour people from different countries that work hard all day just to provide food for us for example coca beans for chocolate and bananas and lots of other foods. Child slavery is also involved in this.

Testing Temperature

Yesterday 12/06/17 Immersion Yesterday in immersion we tested the temperature of water in the sun and in the shade. We were using a thermometer to see the temperature of the water. When we put the thermometer in the water under the shad for 30 seconds the temperature was fifteen degrees and when we put the thermometer in the water under the sun for 30 seconds it was seventeen degrees. I learnt something new yesterday that the red stuff in a thermometer is called mercury and no it is not actually from mercury.

Removing stains

08.0617 Removing Stains In immersion we did an  experiment   on different types of stains and what substance   would remove the stain the best . I made a hypothesis that the baking soda & lemon would work best. My group tried a coffee stain and the substance we used were baking soda & lemon, baking soda & vinegar,  nail polish  remover,  dish soap  and it turns out that the dish soap  works best.
